UMA Network Architecture

Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) addresses the Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) market by enabling a mobile device to access the core of a cellular network using an IP connection that is secured by a standard IPSec VPN. UMA provides the mobile device with the exact same feature set that is available when the mobile device is using the standard GSM cellular connection.
