HAYWARD, Calif., September 10, 2001 - Certicom, (Nasdaq: CERT; TSE: CIC), a leading provider of mobile e-business security, today announced that its popular movianVPN™ software will be available with the new HP Jornada 560 Series Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs). Certicom has worked with HP to optimize and bundle its movianVPN software with the new, versatile HP Jornada 560 Series PDAs in order to provide mobile professionals easy and secure access to corporate databases and applications1

"Certicom's movianVPN client provides a critical component of a total mobile enterprise solution," said Kok Khoon Lim, General Manager of HP's smart handheld division. "The ability for IT managers to incorporate the HP Jornada 560 Series PDA into their corporate VPN opens the door for extending networked enterprise applications to greater numbers of the professional workforce."

movianVPN allows companies to extend critical enterprise applications such as e-mail and Sales Force Automation (SFA) tools to mobile professionals using popular handheld devices utilizing Windows CE or PalmOS® 3.5 and above. movianVPN uses IPSec, an extremely secure method for data transmission that provides corporate-strength security for sensitive information. movianVPN is interoperable with leading VPN gateway products from Alcatel, Check Point, Cisco, Intel, Nortel Networks, Radguard and Symantec, enabling enterprises to leverage their network security investments to include PDAs.

"HP is using movianVPN for its own operations initiatives, providing secure remote access for field operations as well as for HP's top 500 senior executives," said Kris Sparks, HP's Worldwide Remote Access Program Manager. "We are excited that Certicom can help us deploy mobile solutions that meet our strict corporate security standards."

"Our customers, which include members of the Global Fortune 500, are finding the combination of movianVPN running on HP Jornada 560 Series PDAs highly synergistic," said Susan Tomilo, movian Director of Sales and Business Development.
