Licensing Agreements with Funk Software, HiddenMind® and Cysive™ Demonstrate Crucial Role of Certicom Security Technology in E-Business
HAYWARD, Calif., January 8, 2002 - Certicom, (Nasdaq: CERT; TSE: CIC), a leading provider of mobile e-business security, today announced licensing agreements with leading enterprise software solutions providers Funk Software, HiddenMind, and Cysive. These innovative companies will use Certicom's Truspoint™ public-key infrastructure (PKI) technology to enable secure e-business transactions among wired and wireless environments.
These companies selected Certicom's Trustpoint to build advanced security into their Internet e-business solutions. Trustpoint is a comprehensive suite of PKI products that allows today's enterprises to build wireless certificate capabilities to enable secure communication and digital signatures over cellular, wireless LAN, and other networks via personal digital assistants (PDAs), mobile phones and pagers. Certicom's security solutions are tailored to the unique requirements of mobile environments, which, unlike desktop-only solutions, require a very compact code size due to bandwidth limitations and memory and processor requirements of mobile devices.
"Funk Software, HiddenMind and Cysive represent the new wave of e-business and communications solutions providers that are placing information directly into the hands of business users and consumers when and where they need it," said Prakash Panjwani, senior vice president of business development for Certicom. "Innovative application developers have recognized Certicom as the leading provider of trusted security solutions tailored to meet the challenges posed by the constraints of the mobile e-business environment."
Certicom's new licensees are implementing core security technology to forge ground-breaking e-business solutions in the following ways:
" As we enter the wireless age, public key technology is becoming increasingly important as a means of securing LANs," said Joe Ryan, vice president of Funk Software. "We are committed to providing the most secure authentication and access control solutions for the wireless LAN in our RADIUS servers. We believe that Certicom's Trustpoint products are on the cutting edge of PKI security solutions, and we are pleased to be able to incorporate them in our products."
"Enterprises are seeking solutions that enable mobile employees to remain active and productive through the use of wireless networks and mobile applications while also providing the level of security that exists in their existing wired networks," said HiddenMind vice president of Strategic Products Randall Campbell. "Coupled with the HiddenMind solution, Certicom's technology is a key element to providing a high level of security for transactions and communications over wireless networks."
