CERTICOM LICENSES SECURITY SOLUTIONS TO STERLING COMMERCE

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario – (September 9, 2008) – Certicom (TSX: CIC) today announced that Sterling Commerce has extended its license of Certicom’s Security Builder® security solutions to protect sensitive financial transactions. Under terms of the license renewal, Certicom will deliver upgraded and enhanced versions of its Security Builder SSL-J™ and Security Builder C-J GSE™ solutions as well as professional services support.

Security Builder SSL-J provides security for Internet communications and also contains Suite-B algorithms that support the National Security Agency’s (NSA) requirements for the U.S. Government Crypto Modernization Program.  Security Builder C-J GSE is Certicom’s Federal Industry Protections Standards (FIPS) 140-2 validated cryptographic module.  FIPS 140-2 is the security requirement for cryptographic modules as defined by the National Institute of Standards for Technology (NIST).
